Alcohol is a depressant. It slows down your brain and reactions, can last for several hours depending on how much you drink. It will make you dehydrated, increase your appetite, increase the risk of accidents. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions so you are more likely to do something you wouldn't do if sober. Linking it with unsafe sex and violence. It may cause drowsiness, make you sick and give you a  hangover.

Alcohol is really dangerous if mixed with other substances and long-term or heavy regular use can lead serious health issues like liver damage.Alcohol can be physically addictive and you may need help to stop drinking.

Amphetamine is a stimulant which can be snorted or swallowed. It increases energy levels,can make you feel more confident, it also suppresses your appetite and prevents you from sleeping properly. The effects can last for  3-4 hours, but it can take a couple of days for your body to recover. after use you may feel tired , lethargic and unable to sleep, some people feel depressed and regular use has been linked to mental health problems.

Amphetamines are Class B drugs.

Benzodiazepines are depressant drugs, they come in tablet form which are swallowed. They are a group of drugs that are normally prescribed by doctors as sleeping tablets and to relieve anxiety. They are also used illegally, Benzodiazepines can cause drowsiness, forgetfulness and confusion.they can impair your judgement and you are more likely to have an accident when you use them the effects can last 3-6 hours. it is easy to take too many tablets and overdose  it is dangerous to use them with alcohol. Benzodiazepines are physically addictive and can be difficult to stop using.

Cannabis is a depressant drug, it comes from a plant, there are many different types of cannabis some of which are very strong and can make you hallucinate. It is usually smoked.

It can make you feel more relaxed and mentally stimulated, it also decreases energy levels and can make you feel hungry. Cannabis can cause forgetfulness, confusion and anxiety. Smoking cannabis can give you problems with your lungs and affect your short term memory

Stronger types of cannabis can make you hallucinate, and feel nauseous, give you panic attacks, feelings of paranoia, and have been linked to mental health problems . The effects can last 2-4 hours.

Cocaine is stimulant drug it is usually snorted. It increases energy levels, can give you more confident, and feel physically strong. Cocaine increases blood pressure and heart rate. it can give you  dry mouth, sweaty and lose your appetite. the effects wear off quickly within 20  - 30 minutes.

Sometimes it can make you feel very anxious and panic,after use you may feel very tired and depressed. It is very dangerous to mix cocaine and alcohol as the mix to create a new substance in the body which puts extra strain on the body and may cause serious heart problems.

Crack cocaine is a stimulant, it is generally smoked, it is a solid and stronger form of cocaine. It increases your heart rate and blood pressure with a very quick rush which is followed by an intense high that lasts about 5 -10 minutes, it also increases alertness and confidence.

Once the drug wears off you can feel tired , lethargic and down, it can make you irritable and angry also causing anxiety and paranoia. Once you start using you may have cravings to keep using , which means you will have to spend a lot of money to pay for it. You are at risk of violence and aggression as crack can cause you to react before thinking about the consequences.

Ecstasy is a stimulant it is a type of amphetamine, it comes in tablet form and is swallowed. It can make you feel relaxed, happy, euphoric and sociable. It's effects can last up to 3 -4 hours depending on how much you take. Ecstasy will stop you feeling hungry and you may find it difficult to sleep after using, you may also feel down and anxious.

Ecstasy makes your body temperature increase and it is easy to dehydrate when using it, which can lead to overeating and in some cases has resulted in death.

GHB (Gammahydroxybutyrate) is a depressant. It comes in a clear liquid form that is swallowed. In small doses it promotes euphoria, relaxation and well being, but in higher doses can cause dizziness, nausea, muscle spasms loss of consciousness and even coma.

The effects of GHB can last 1 - 4 hours depending on the amount taken, it is dangerous to use with alcohol because this intensifies the effects.

It can make you have feelings of  increased energy and euphoria it also causes hallucinations, numbness and out of body experiences.Ketamine can also make you feel like you are not in control which means you are more at risk of accidents or being attacked. It has been linked to mental health problems including panic attacks and depression. The effects last 1-3 hours. Ketamine can also causee bladder damage  in some cases leading to incontinence and bladder removal

LSD (Lysergic Acid)

LSD is a hallucinogenic drug, which is a liquid that is dropped onto blotting paper is swallowed. The effects last 6-12 hours and once the 'trip' has started you cannot stop it.

Solvents are a depressant which are inhaled. You will feel an initial rush  which is followed by drowsiness, nausea and lack of coordination. Some types of solvents can cause hallucinations. Solvents can cause death due heart failure, choking on vomit and accidents, this can happen the first time or the twentieth time you use solvents.The effects last 15-45 minutes.


Solvents are legal but not safe, and the sale of some volatile substances restricted for people under 18.

Steroids can increase muscle mass and strength, increase energy, motivation, confidence and self esteem. In women it can cause growth of facial hair, decreased breast size and deepening of the voice, in men it can cause baldness, development of breasts, shrinking of testicles and infertility.
